Defra has provided the following update on the timing of publication of the guidance for Noise Action Plans: "The Noise Action Plans (NAP) for major roads, major railways and the 23 agglomerations in England were adopted and published by Defra earlier this year. Since then Defra has been working on the next stages of the implementation process, which has included liaising with other government departments and relevant authorities. "An outline timetable was included in the action plans. This indicated that, in addition to this liaison, the Competent Authority (Defra) would be publishing, in July 2010, guidance about the NAP implementation process. As part of this work, it is planned to hold stakeholder events in the autumn, enabling the next stage of implementation to be discussed with the relevant authorities and other stakeholders. Defra wishes to use these workshops to listen to the views of our stakeholders, so that the NAP implementation policy is as efficient and effective as possible. Consequently, the NAP guidance will not now be published until after these stakeholder events have occurred." |
