Local Government Regulation will be responding, and has flagged this consultation to liaison groups as a potential item for discussion. LG Regulation would however also be pleased to receive any comments from individual authorities where they decide to respond separately.
As an initial observation, whilst there are various references in the document to partnership working and engaging with stakeholders, there seems to be little mention of local authority activity in sampling, ID investigations and their work with FBOs at food premises.
Further local authority views or copies of any responses sent to the FSA would be welcomed ideally by 23 August. This is to allow time to consider the feedback and use this to finalise a collective response by the FSA’s deadline of 2 September.
