Examples of guidance for developers re. contaminated land 12/02/2009

LACORS intends to maintain a webpage on its website containing examples of guidance produced by councils / groups of councils, for developers regarding contaminated land.  LACORS needs to emphasise that these documents are not being promoted as 'best practice';  no consideration of the content has been made by LACORS nor its advisors as a whole.  However, it is thought that it may be helpful for contaminated land officers to view the documents.  The examples are listed below and either contain a link to the document itself or to another website which contains the document.  LACORS is interested in feedback as to whether this webpage is useful to officers and whether there are other documents which colleagues would be happy for LACORS to include.

Examples of council good practice – which have external validation and evidence of improved outcomes – are specifically labelled as “good practice” on LACORS’ website. However, the website may also contain unendorsed examples. This would normally be where legislation, policy or an innovative approach are very new such that insufficient time has elapsed for emerging good practice to be verified, but where there is a clear need for information dissemination to assist in establishing good practice. Unendorsed examples are specifically labelled as “examples”.

LACORS is interested in hearing from councils that may have used “good practice” or “examples” from our website or have implemented similar approaches. Any feedback received will be used to update relevant content. Please email your comments to: info@lacors.gov.uk
