The final full report is available here . Samples were collected from sandwiches purchased from or provided in hospitals between March 2005 and April 2006. Microbiological testing focused on Listeria monocytogenes and other Listeria spp. The study found 3.3% of sandwiches sampled to be of unsatisfactory quality.

National Microbiological Sampling Programme
This study is part of a coordinated national programme investigating potential hygiene and food safety issues. Local authorities from all across the UK take part in these LACORS / Health Protection Agency coordinated studies.

The programme highlights areas of public health significance, recommends areas for future work/research and provides information to local authority enforcement officers.
