LACORS and ACPO have produced joint guidance to support collaborative working between local police forces and local authorities in relation to relevant vehicle stops during a notifiable animal disease situation.

The guidance details the powers of the police under the Animal Health Act 1981 and advises on the practical approach the Police should take during Vehicle Checks. A brief advice note for Police (Annex A) which they may use during such checks, has also been produced.
